My 2011 in photos

This is the first time I’ve compiled a selection of my favourite photos from the past year. My photography business turns 5 years old this year and I wish that I’d done this every year – I will from now on! I have had a fabulous year meeting and photographing new and old clients and feel very fortunate to still be doing what I love.

I have decided to also include a handful of personal and other work (which I don’t often feature on my blog) as they are a big part of my journey over the year.

So here we go. I haven’t included all of my shoots from the year due to client privacy, just a few highlights –

There couldn’t have been a better start to the year than meeting and spending a couple of hours with little miss Maisie. Maisie is the gorgeous little daughter of one of my wedding couples Sarah and Stu who’s wedding I photographed over 2 years ago. It was lovely to see them again and photograph this little bundle of joy.

The lovely Lisa & Paul celebrating 10 years of marriage. Oh boy this couple know how to celebrate! This was the first time I got to meet & photograph this wonderful family (you will meet their daughters later on in this blog post) and I have got to know them very well this year through a number of photo shoots.

Anna & Max’s stylish spring wedding at Botleys Mansion. My first of many visits to photograph some very special weddings at this glorious wedding venue.

My Mum & Dad – A photo shoot anniversary present. 50 years of marriage & still going strong! Aren’t they cute?

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

A special surprise photo shoot from Dad, Iain for his wife and Hannah, Tom and Nell’s mum, Donna in one of my favourite parks in London. Needless to say, the surprise went down a storm! What a lovely bunch of kids too!

Now here is a couple that knew how to do it!. It is effortless for this cool couple, Marie-Laure and James. This was one of my pre-wedding shoot highlights of the year and their wedding didn’t disappoint either!

Time for a little test shoot with my little niece Leo. These images just sum her up to a tee! Fun, mad, cheeky and gorgeous!

I love to mix things up every now & again and jumped at the chance to shoot Beckie & Matt’s pre-wedding shoot in Dorset. My wife & I made a weekend of it too 🙂 Beckie & Matt couldn’t have been better models in their glorious surroundings of Christchurch

A return visit to see Lisa & Paul and photograph their daughters, Elizabeth & Emma at their house. Lisa’s sister, Lou was also visiting so we grabbed some photos of her son Harry too! A very memorable shoot. Always a fun time with this lovely family.

I’m honored to be given the opportunity to meet & photograph wonderful couples and this couple, Fi & Toby are one of the sweetest! Full of fun, energy & utterly in love!

Barney Bear’s My First Year™ comes to an end and what a lovely young boy he’s turned into! He has one of the most memorable smiles, a cartoon smile as I like to call it! Luckily I’ve been fortunate enough to see & photograph him & his parents some more since the end of his My First Year™ package! 🙂

I truly do love all of my clients wedding days but this French-English wedding really stood out. The king and queen of cool, calm & sophistication Marie-Laure & James held a marvellous summer wedding at Botleys Mansion. The French put us English to shame when it comes to celebrating! This was a real treat of a wedding for Charlie, my second photographer and I!

Beckie & Matt’s fairytale summer wedding in the enchanting New Forest in Dorset.

Sometimes it’s nice to take time out & photograph the in-laws! What a lovely family the Grays are. Just like my own!

GGGGGGGGGGG

Oliver’s My First Year™ session one. The first shoot of a joyous 3 day, 3 shoot trip to Kent. Oliver was just a few days old in these photos & was tiny! I’m going to enjoy visiting him & the family in the new year!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

A lot of fun was had with Isabella and Matilda on the 2nd of 3 shoots in Kent. I have since become ‘Uncle Geoff’! I think the girls like me 😉 These girls are destined to become future stars, I’m sure!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Harry’s My First Year™ session 2, the 3rd & final shoot of the 3 days in Kent. What a way to end a shoot marathon with the shoot taking place at the lovely Poplar Hall (Harry’s grandparents home). My wife & I are actually Harry’s godparents, which makes these shoots even more special. I was also fortunate enough to photograph Emily & Ben’s (Harry’s parents) wedding just under four years ago.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Then it was back to London shortly after the Kent trip to photograph Reyansh, Aditi, Rishi & grandparents, the winners of my SEASONS™ competition! Reyansh certainly kept me on my feet! Who needs a gym when you are a baby and child portrait photographer!

Aah. Back with the lovely Fi & Toby. A classic London wedding at Chelsea Old Church & The Waldorf. There were many fun and tender moments throughout the day which was very fitting for this very special couple.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Then onto my old hometown, Cambridge for fellow wedding photographer Jean-Luc & Liza’s wedding. This was a marvellous wedding with a bit of a difference. Liza & Jean-Luc were married in Cambridge Registry office in the morning, had a blessing in St Bene’t’s Church in the city in the afternoon. Then a reception in Corpus Christi College. A wonderful day!

Off to Goodwood Revival for a spot of photography for Rolls-Royce! The brief was quite open so I managed to get in some sight-seeing too. Goodwood Revival is something else, I will certainly be going back! You really don’t need to be a car fanatic to go along. A very special thanks to Pippa & Ian for passing this commission on to me x

I love to photograph new babies asleep as you can pretty much put them where you want to! This photo proves my point 🙂 Damon did however open his eyes a few times through the shoot & I got the shots that I wanted for the lovely proud parents Tracy & Shaun.

What a privilege it was to photograph my father-in-laws retirement conference at the Sainsbury Laboratory in Cambridge. My father-in-laws past students traveled from far & wide (Australia & Malaysia!) to see him off in style! Clearly an influential Professor! Happy retirement John!

A day full of beautiful autumnal light & colours. If I could have just one season out of the four it would be this one! Huey was a gem for this shoot & Jess & James his parents continuously entertained him to get some wonderful shots. Great clothing choices too!

A bit of a personal photo here of our cats Grink & Titch. Sadly Grink (on the left) passed away in October 2011. Grink & Titch were inseparable & we all miss Grink dearly. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my cats and anyone who owns pets will understand. It’s like loosing one of your family. Luckily I did a little photography project on them in the summer, photographing Grink and Titch each day over one month so I have many good photographs of them both together. Once again reinforcing the importance of good photographs. RIP Grink x

Another visit to see the bubbly girls Elizabeth & Emma, this time a winter (although it looks like Autumn!) SEASONS™ shoot in one of my favourite parks in London. Much fun was had & throwing leaves, deer spotting, falling over & rolling down hills (I participated in all of the aforementioned!) 🙂

What a fitting way to end my selection. Leo has been the subject of my Christmas card shoots for the last 4 years. She has been the perfect model each year. Leo is the main reason that my baby and child photography side of the business exists and for that I owe her a lot! This was Leo’s final Christmas shoot and I will now be offering the role out to my clients children. You can see the video of Leo’s final Christmas shoot BY CLICKING ON THE IMAGE ABOVE. We are now searching for the Face of Christmas for 2012!

If you are interested in my wedding photography or a baby or child photo shoot you can see further examples of my work here, find out more about the photo shoots here or contact me for further information here.
