Young at heart {1000 words #7}

A picture is worth a 1000 words

Delving into my image archive to re-publish a series of images that encapsulate meaning and emotion

This framed image is proudly displayed in my viewing room as a sample frame. Sitting pretty on a wall at the top of the stairs it is one of the most talked about photos in my viewing room. It brings back many fond memories early on in my wedding photography career and has stood the test of time and featured in my ‘favourites’ for many years. The bride and groom, Rachel and Matt had just been married (at St Luke’s Church, Duston, Northamptonshire) and arrived at their reception venue (Harlestone Village Institute) by horse and carriage. While the guests tucked into champagne and canapes we took a stroll around the reception venue for some photos away from the guests. I spotted the swings and quietly thought to myself that it’d be great to get a shot of Rachel and Matt on them. Before I knew it they read my mind and rushed towards the swings without me saying a thing! I love Matt and Rachel’s expression and connection in this picture. They have almost childlike grins on their faces that cannot hide their happiness on their wedding day. I really like the fact that you can see Rachel’s shoes and the ribbing of her dress, which was purchased from Ebay I’ll have you know! Proof you don’t have to spend thousands of pounds on a wedding dress to look absolutely stunning! Instead they chose to save their money for the things that would last…like the photography! 🙂

This print is framed in a classic flat white frame and mounted with a very special elevated mount. I call it a 3D mount. The print is slightly elevated from the white textured backing card so it appears as to be floating in the frame. This is then finished with an offset floating window mount that perfectly frames the print.

This image is definitely a centre piece image that would best be displayed in a prominent place in the lounge, kitchen or hallway. Somewhere where visitors would see it. I could imagine it being a great story telling image for the children and grand children in years to come. That’s what great images do, they stand the test of time and provoke your memories. You’re not just buying a framed photo when you invest in a professionally framed photograph, you are archiving a piece of your history and creating a heirloom that will be passed down in your family.

I am very happy to offer a personal home design consultation to discuss your frame options. I can advise you where best to hang your framed images and help you decide which frames complement your home’s interior.
